What is the WATCHMAN™ Implant?

A small implant the size of a quarter, the WATCHMAN™ Implant is made from light, flexible materials typically used in other medical implants. It is inserted in your heart through a short, minimally-invasive surgery. 

How does the WATCHMAN™ Implant work?

AFib impacts the ability of your heart to pump blood normally, increasing the risk of stroke. Due to the issues caused by AFib, blood begins to pool in the LAA section of your heart, potentially causing a stroke. The WATCHMAN™ Implant fits into the LAA, closing this area off and keeping the blood from pooling in that area, significantly decreasing your stroke risk.
